How to Reach Ujjain from Jaipur

Jaipur to Ujjain is a long day's journey through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Direct trains run via Kota, which makes the train the simplest choice for most travellers.

The road distance from Jaipur to Ujjain is about 520 km, usually via Kota and Jhalawar. Plan for 9 to 11 hours of driving.

The drive suits travellers who want to stop in Kota or Jhalawar. Otherwise, the train is less tiring.

Trains from Jaipur (JP) to Ujjain Junction (UJN) take about 7.5 to 9 hours. Options include the Jaipur–Indore Superfast Express and the Ranthambore Express (which starts in Jodhpur), both running via Kota to Ujjain.

Several long-distance trains from Rajasthan to southern India also stop at Ujjain.

Ujjain has no commercial airport. Check flights from Jaipur to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore (IDR), then take a taxi to Ujjain (about 53 km, 1 to 1.5 hours).
