Ujjain Itinerary
Two days covers Ujjain's main sights: day one around Mahakaleshwar and the Shipra ghats, day two on the outer temple circuit, with an optional third day for Omkareshwar.
Day 1: Mahakal and the ghats
Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar if you have a booking, or general darshan early in the morning. Walk through Shri Mahakal Lok, then visit Bade Ganeshji ka Mandir and Harsiddhi Mata. After lunch, see the Vedh Shala observatory and Gopal Mandir. End the day with the evening aarti at Ram Ghat and Mahakal Lok lit up after dark.
Day 2: The outer temple circuit
Hire an auto for Chintaman Ganesh, Mangalnath, Sandipani Ashram, Gadkalika, the Bhartrihari caves and Kal Bhairav. If time allows, continue to Kaliadeh Palace or the batik workshops of Bherugarh.
Day 3 (optional): Omkareshwar
A day trip of about 140 km each way to the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga on the Narmada, or a slower day in Indore with its Sarafa night food market.
