Shopping in Ujjain

Ujjain's best-known craft is Bherugarh batik, a wax-resist textile printed in the village of Bherugarh on the Shipra and awarded a GI tag in 2023. Look for batik bedsheets, dupattas, sarees and dress material, ideally from the workshops themselves.

The lanes around Mahakaleshwar and Harsiddhi sell rudraksha, puja items, brass lamps and religious books, while Freeganj, Tower Chowk and the Gopal Mandir area are the main everyday markets. The Mahakal laddu prasad is sold at official temple counters.
