Last mile in Ujjain: Ujjain Junction (UJN) is about 2 km from Mahakaleshwar Temple. Autos and e-rickshaws wait outside the station and at the Nanakheda and Dewas Gate bus stands. Around the temple, the last stretch is often on foot because of traffic controls, especially on Mondays, Shravan and festival days.
Ujjain has no commercial airport. You can fly from Ahmedabad to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore (IDR) and take a taxi to Ujjain (about 53 km, 1 to 1.5 hours), but for this distance an overnight train is often just as practical.
