Chandi Devi Temple

Chandi Devi Temple sits on Neel Parvat, on the opposite bank of the Ganga from Mansa Devi, and completes — along with Mansa Devi and Maya Devi — the trio of Shakti Peeths that most pilgrimage itineraries in Haridwar are built around. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Chandi, associated in Hindu mythology with the defeat of the demon Shumbha, and the current structure is credited to the Kashmiri king Suchat Singh in 1929. Like its counterpart across the river, Chandi Devi is reached either by ropeway or a forested trekking trail, and the climb rewards visitors with sweeping views back over Haridwar, the Ganga winding through the plains, and the Mansa Devi hill opposite. The temple sees its heaviest crowds during Navratri, when the trek and ropeway queues both lengthen considerably. Many visitors combine both temples in a single day using the combined ropeway ticket, along with a connecting bus service between the two base stations.
