Shivpuri isn't a single monument so much as a stretch of the Ganga's bank that has become synonymous with Rishikesh's adventure-sports identity. It's the most common put-in point for the region's signature river rafting route, a roughly 16-kilometre stretch back down to Rishikesh that mixes genuine rapids (up to Grade III-IV depending on season and water level) with long, calm floating sections where rafters can simply drift and take in the valley.
Beyond rafting, the area has grown into a small hub of riverside camps offering overnight stays in tents right on the sand, along with bungee jumping, cliff jumping, kayaking and other adventure activities run out of the same cluster of operators. It's a popular add-on for travellers who want a taste of adventure sport without leaving the Rishikesh area, and an easy day trip even without an overnight stay.
Rafting season generally runs from September through June, pausing during peak monsoon months when the river runs too high and fast for safe rafting.
