How to Reach Auli from Delhi

Travelling from Delhi to Auli generally involves reaching the Garhwal region through Haridwar or Rishikesh and continuing towards Joshimath. Joshimath serves as the principal gateway for the final journey to Auli.

Travellers can make the journey entirely by road or combine train or flight travel with a road journey. From Joshimath, Auli can be reached by taxi or by the Joshimath–Auli ropeway when operational. Chamoli district lists Delhi to Joshimath at approximately 500 km, with Auli another roughly 16 km from Joshimath.

A common road route is:

Delhi → Haridwar/Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Karnaprayag → Joshimath → Auli.

The mountain section becomes progressively slower after Rishikesh, so an early start is advisable. Depending on traffic, weather and road conditions, travellers may prefer to break the journey at Rishikesh, Srinagar or Joshimath instead of completing the entire drive in one stretch.

Uttarakhand Tourism notes that the Rishikesh–Joshimath journey passes through Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag.

There is no railway station at Auli. From Delhi, travellers can take a train towards Haridwar or Rishikesh and continue towards Joshimath by road.

From Joshimath, the final approximately 16 km journey to Auli can be made by taxi or other road transport, or by ropeway when operational. Haridwar has frequent rail connectivity with Delhi and other major Indian cities.

Travellers can fly from Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun and then continue to Auli by road.

Uttarakhand Tourism identifies Jolly Grant as the nearest airport for Auli. From the airport, travellers continue towards Rishikesh, Joshimath and Auli by road.
