Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, usually called the Ram Mandir, stands at the site Hindus revere as the birthplace of Lord Ram. The idol of Ram Lalla, Lord Ram in his child form, was consecrated on 22 January 2024, and the temple has since become one of the most visited temples in India.

The temple is built in the Nagara (Maru-Gurjara) style from pink sandstone, with carved pillars and a main spire about 161 feet high. The temple trust hoisted the sacred flag on the completed spire in November 2025. Inside, the sanctum holds the black-stone idol of Ram Lalla.

General darshan is free. Security is strict: mobile phones, cameras, bags and leather items are not allowed inside, and free lockers are provided near the entry. The trust also offers a timed Sugam Darshan pass and limited aarti passes through its official website, srjbtkshetra.org. Book only there and ignore anyone outside offering paid “VIP entry”.

By tradition many pilgrims visit Hanuman Garhi first, then the Ram Mandir. Queues are longest on weekends, on Ram Navami and during Deepotsav, so arrive early in the morning if you can.

The temple is about 1 km from Ayodhya Dham Junction railway station and about 7 km from Maharishi Valmiki International Airport. E-rickshaws run from the station, Tedhi Bazar and Hanuman Garhi; vehicles are stopped some distance away, so expect to walk the last stretch and through the security zone.
