About Sandipani Ashram
Sandipani Ashram is where, according to tradition, Lord Krishna, his brother Balram and his friend Sudama studied under the sage Sandipani. The area around it is still called Ankpat, recalling where Krishna is said to have washed his writing tablet.
The complex includes the Gomti Kund, which tradition says Krishna created for his guru, and the Sarveshwar Mahadev temple. Followers of the Vallabha sect regard it as the 73rd seat (baithak) of Vallabhacharya, and Janmashtami is celebrated here with special fervour.
